Cooking Accreditation FAQs
What is a Cooking Accreditation?
A cooking accreditation is an official recognition of your culinary skills and knowledge; providing structured learning, in-depth assessments, and a formal recognition of your achievements. It’s a mark of quality that demonstrates your ability to cook to a professional standard.
What is the Difference Between a Cooking Certification and a Cooking Accreditation?
While often used interchangeably, a cooking certification and cooking accreditation are distinct. A certification is testament to completing your course, focusing on participation and completion. In contrast, a cooking accreditation goes further, assessing not only your participation but also your competence and understanding at a professional level.
Accreditation involves comprehensive evaluations, practical assessments, and detailed feedback, ensuring that your skills meet industry standards. At Leiths, our accreditations signify a high level of culinary proficiency.
What Cooking Accreditations Do Leiths Online Offer?
Leiths Online offers a cooking accreditation opportunity after completing any of our four professional level courses.
How Do Cooking Accreditations Work with a Leiths Online Course?
When you have successfully finished your chosen course you will receive a verified certificate of completion and your allocated Leiths mentor will invite you to participate in an accreditation day or weekend at Leiths School of Food and Wine in London (16-20 Wendell Road, London, W12 9RT). It is at this point you can make the decision to proceed and your mentor will be on hand to answer any questions and provide detailed information on what to expect.
Should you wish to gain accreditation, you can then book onto the next suitable date available.
During the accreditation weekend, there will be a practical assessment covering strands of the course, during which the food you cook will be assessed by Leiths teachers. You will also sit a theory exam to test a series of key techniques and skills covered over the course. With the addition of creative cookery sessions and demonstrations, it promises to be a busy and rewarding experience. It is also a great opportunity to work in our professional kitchens alongside fellow online students from a mix of cohorts.

“I did the two-day Chef Skills assessment in London because I wanted to finish and have a full qualification. I loved it.
