‘Teen’s Kitchen’ is ideal for enthusiastic teen cooks and is a great course for those who have completed Leiths Teen Cookery Toolbox as it introduces even more skills and new recipes.
The exciting curriculum will take you from the basics of egg cookery through to mastering a roast chicken dinner with all the delicious trimmings. Whip up impressive meals and indulgent desserts – from a sizzling Pad Thai to the ultimate chewy chocolate cookie. You’ll gain cooking skills for life and in no time you’ll be the go-to family chef or uni kitchen gourmand – cooking up a storm – chopping, blending, baking and treating everyone to your culinary masterpieces.
The course structure is completely flexible meaning you can cook at your own pace and schedule cookery sessions to suit you and your busy summer plans. You’ll be guided through the course by our talented teachers, and have a mentor on hand to support you. Our mentors are all qualified Leiths teachers, they are friendly and approachable and always ready to help. They’ll comment on the food you cook providing expert feedback and useful suggestions, ensuring you get the maximum benefit from this course and take your cooking up a notch or two.
On completing Teen’s Kitchen you’ll get a digital certificate of completion. Not only that, you’ll be a boss in the kitchen having learnt how to effortlessly knock up a kicking curry, produce the perfect steak dinner, and make a mean mac and cheese.
This course shares the same sessions as Absolute Beginners, reworked for students aged 13-18.

Teen’s Kitchen is a 6-week course that will guide enthusiastic teen cooks through a host of essential skills with recipes chosen to invest in essential cooking skills that will last a lifetime.
Units are packed full of popular dishes and recipes have been cleverly selected to cover a wide range of foundation cookery skills. At the beginning of the course, our teachers will instruct students on key kitchen organisation and hygiene practices delivered in an engaging, interactive format.
The app pauses automatically when you need to complete a step, at which point you can share pictures of your cooking with your classmates and mentor, and send everyone messages of support.
Each week, you will unlock a new batch of video-based sessions that take you step-by-step through the process of cooking a variety of recipes. You can choose to cook these all at once, creating a feast with pudding too, or to spread them out over the week.

A ‘kit list’ of ingredients will be made available to you at the beginning of each session so that you and a parent or guardian can plan ahead. If you’re unable to find specific ingredients, advice on alternatives can be provided on request.
You will need access to a well-stocked kitchen, including at least a double hob (two rings) and an oven, preferably with a grill. In order to access the course content, you will need a smartphone or tablet and the Workshop app. Other equipment such as a food processor and electric hand whisk are recommended but not essential.
A comprehensive list of everything you will need for the course will be sent to you ahead of the start date.
Learning online with Leiths couldn’t be more straightforward. All you need to do is log into the Workshop learning app on your phone or tablet, follow our expert tutors’ step by step instructions, and get cooking.
You’ll work alongside up to nine other teens, who will soon become a helpful support group through the app, and you’ll be guided by a friendly Leiths mentor, who will be on hand to help you cook an impressive range of tasty accessible recipes. Take and upload pictures of your finished dish so that your tutor can comment and offer tips for next time, and your cohort can be inspired by your progress. The online community is a supportive, lively space where you’ll enjoy each other’s progress and build on each other’s culinary successes.
When you sign up to the Teen’s Kitchen, you’ll unlock a new unit every week, for six weeks, which you follow at your own pace. This includes introductory units covering key utensils and organisation and basic hygiene in the kitchen.
Don’t worry if you have too much homework, or need to skip a week during the holidays. Teen’s Kitchen is totally flexible, so you can take a session at the weekend or whenever you like. Your access to the course lasts for 6 months, so don’t feel pressured if your studies have to take priority for a while.
It’s a great way to learn skills and techniques that will boost your confidence as you get ready to leave home. Cooking is a great way to bond with new people; it’s inspiring to know that when that day comes, you’ll be able to feed yourself and your friends too. Class rules
This course is exclusively for students aged 13-18. By booking a place, you agree that the student who will be taking this course is aged 13-18, has their parent or guardian’s consent to sign up to Workshop and will have adult supervision throughout the duration of the course. Any students breaking these rules risk being removed from the course without refund.
Average cooking time: 3-4 hours per week
Welcome to Introduction to Kitchen, Eggs and Soup Making. In this unit, you will learn how to get organised before you cook. You'll be taught about equipment and how to use it, hygiene and safety, and how to weigh and measure ingredients.
You'll be making some ultimate comfort food favourites with a Macaroni and Cheese and chocolate chip cookies.
You'll learn to stir-fry a classic noodle dish and you'll cook some sesame glazed chicken. You’ll also develop your kitchen organisation and knife skills! Asian recipes require sweet, salty, acidity, and heat in their ingredients.
This will be your introduction to quick meat cooking and will include elements such as browning, resting, and carving of the meat. You'll also learn to make a lemon posset which is a great make-ahead dessert.
You’ll be introduced to some classic Indian dishes including, a quick flatbread, a cooling yoghurt dip, roasted tomatoes, a lamb curry with blended spices, a radish pickle, and some rice.
Whip up a wonderful roast roast chicken with gravy, rosemary roast potatoes, tenderstem broccoli, and a peach cobbler. A perfect Sunday roast!

Your class will be moving forward at a pace of 1 unit per week, however after each unit is unlocked you have the freedom to complete each session entirely at your own pace. You will also have the ability to schedule your sessions for times that suit your lifestyle.
This course has been carefully designed to make sure the advantages of real-world learning experiences are still embraced online. You will therefore be taken through the subject matter week-by-week to give you the chance to digest what you’ve learnt whilst progressing at a steady pace alongside your classmates. Unlike a real-world course though, you will also have the opportunity to revisit sessions and practice whenever and wherever you like!
There’s no need to worry if you have a family holiday booked or have to miss a week or two during the course. You’ll have access to your course dashboard, and the ability to contact your Leiths mentor, for 6 months from your course start date. This means you’ll have plenty of time to catch up if you need to.
Shortly before your course start date, you will be invited to introduce yourself to the rest of your class via messaging on the Workshop app.
Each week, your class will unlock a new unit encouraging you all to cook the same dishes within the same week. At the end of every session, you will be asked to upload a photo of your dish, which your class and mentor will be able to view, like and provide feedback on.

You can contact your mentor directly through the app at any time, and will receive a response within 48 hours. Your mentor will also be able to grade and comment on your photo uploads with any feedback they may have.
You’ll be able to log into the Workshop app and access your class group discussion shortly before your start date so that you can chat away and get acquainted!
You can typically expect to be cooking for a combined total of about 3-4 hours a week.
Yes, we’ll send you a full equipment list before the course starts. Make sure to ask your parent or guardian to keep an eye on their emails (including the spam folder) for this!
If you book your place over 30 days before your course start date, you can cancel your booking and claim a full refund within 30 days of your purchase. If you book your place within 30 days of the course start date, you can claim a full refund within 14 days of your purchase.
All Leiths Online courses are 18+ or require parental consent for those between 13-18. The exceptions are our Teens courses, which are exclusively for 13-18-year-olds.
The accreditation weekends at Leiths school in London have a wine element to them and are only for those aged 18 and over.
You’ll have access to your course dashboard for a total time of 6 months after your start date.
Units (including video sessions and supporting materials) will become available week-by-week as your class progresses through the course.

We strongly encourage every student to finish their course within the allocated access period, as this ensures you stay on track and make the most of your learning experience. However, if you believe you need additional time, we are able to offer 3-month extensions at a cost of £100.
We review every case individually so if you need to request an extension please reach out to us at support@workshop.ws.
Please be aware that with a course extension, you will receive less regular contact time from your mentor as the usual course access period will have expired. To receive a certificate, you will still be required to photo uploads and complete any assessments if applicable.
